Zuni Shalako Kachina squash-blossom-necklaces Multi-Pattern Weaving with a WideOld Style Zuni Shalako, or Sio Shalako, Kachina carved by Patrick Poley. Sio Shalako reflects Zuni influence within Hopi Kachina tradition and is recognized for its dramatic form and ceremonial presence. Like many Kachina figures, it relates broadly to the Hopi ceremonial cycle of prayers for rain, balance, renewal, and the well being of the community. Old style Kachinas are traditionally made for hanging, and this figure includes a loop on the back
