Smith, a brilliant young watchmaking instructor at the Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute, set out to write a repair manual for the Hamilton Electric. He had written other repair manuals. After purchasing a Van Horn and later spending time at the Hamilton Factory studying the watch, with Hamilton's permission, he wrote this manual in early 1958. Hamilton agreed that it could not
